Sterling Silver St. Bridget’s Cross Pendant

Our Sterling Silver St. Bridget’s Cross Pendant pays homage to one of Ireland’s most beloved Saints. Also known as Mary of the Gael, her cross of rushes is re-created here in highly polished, precious Sterling silver, and stylized with a lattice pattern on the arms of the cross. Three Christian Ichthus form each end. St. Bridget (451-525 A.D.) was known for her works of mercy toward the poor and downtrodden. Other details of the Sterling Silver St. Bridget’s Cross Pendant include:
  • Stamped .925
  • Highly polished
  • Approx. 1 3/16” diameter
  • Back bail
Legend tells us that St. Bridget made her cross from rushes (stems of a marsh plant, commonly used on the floors of dwellings of that time for warmth and cleanliness) when she went to be with her father at his death bed. Upon hearing what the cross meant, he converted to Christianity, and asked to be baptized before his death. Inspired by the teachings of St. Patrick at an early age, St. Bridget died on the same day she was born, February 1st, which is her Feast Day. It is also the traditional first day of Spring in Ireland.
