Harbor seals can remain submerged for up to 28 minutes, and can dive to depths of 295 feet. They are generally solitary. Females give birth to a single pup in the Spring, and recognize their baby by sound and smell. Another member of the seal family, the Harp Seal, is the victim of one of the grimmest statistics in the marine animal kingdom.
